life begins at 40? do you agree?

I searched in Google the sentence ‘life begins at 40’ and I found 12.500.000 of views, there is a cartoon with this title, a website named like that, even a film made in 1935. Those results point to the fact that there is something true in that expression. Coming up to 40 could be a rite of passage in a life that makes you believe that you are starting again. You have undergone the main changes, you can cope with all your problems and it’s the moment of beginning to begin. In my opinion, every age has some drawbacks and advantages and it’s not necessary when you are getting on for 40 to make a division in your life and consider it like a new beginning.
It’s said that people at this age look back on their life and they realise the things that have worked out and these ones they would have liked to do, they don’t want to rule out some of them and then they think about doing them. These thoughts ease the sad feelings of something not having come up to your expectations. ‘Life begins at forty’ it’s a scream of hope to be at ease. I personally think that you are always ‘living’, and it’s not your age but your personal situation that makes you feel as if you were born again.
I talked about this issue to different people, and I wasn’t startled when their answer was that at the forties you are not thinking about taking out a mortgage or you are not yearning for a child or you are not looking for a boyfriend… - you are supposed to be a mature person- you can do everything you want but in most of the cases your life is already mapped out, you begin to think about something like travelling, or studying or simply having a life in the countryside. Consequently, if you are not worried about major changes you can be happier. A new beginning, why not?
In contrast, nowadays there are a lot of people coming up to 40 that are in two minds, they are still trying to get their aims, or they may not have settle down anywhere yet. They are not exceptions, in big cities that is something normal at this time, then, to sum up, the saying could be ‘don’t worry, there is not an age for anything’.
